Festival creative for pride in Banff National Park

 

Opportunity

The Banff Pride Society, located in Banff Alberta, celebrates diversity in Canada’s most iconic mountain town. For eleven days, the park is base camp for live music, comedy, guest speakers and even mountain-top drag shows. A small town with international appeal, Banff holds a special place in the hearts of locals and visitors alike. As a couple of prairie proud Albertans, we were thrilled for the opportunity to collaborate on the 2022 festival branding, building on the existing Banff Pride brand with a suite of fresh assets and marketing materials, including a full web refresh.

 

Approach

Festival branding

Banff Pride came to us with an exciting line-up for their 9th annual festival, eleven days of events and entertainment in the heart of the Canadian Rockies. More than decorating the town with rainbows, the society aims to promote Banff as a welcoming and inclusive community for folks of all identities and backgrounds. Our goal was to elevate the existing Banff Pride brand while also promoting the festival as a destination for anyone wanting to celebrate pride in the great OUTdoors.

Through the concepting phase, we focused on the differentiators that make Banff Pride a unique pride experience. It was important to reflect the epic scenery, fun energy and one-of-a-kind events, as well as integrate and evolve the society’s existing brand assets. We collaborated with the team closely, working through a number of creative concepts before landing on the right look and feel for the festival.

 

Marketing materials

Because the festival engages the whole town of Banff, marketing materials ranged from everything from transit ads to social media templates. We designed a pile of festival collateral, working within a limited timeline to showcase the artists, events, restaurant partners and accommodators that come together to make Banff Pride such a unique pride experience.

Website refresh

As part of the marketing effort, we led the team through a web refresh, shifting the focus of the site to the festival details through a redesigned homepage and refined sitemap. The updated site helps to elevate the Banff Pride brand, while connecting visitors to the events and experiences most exciting to them through event listings and itineraries.

 

Solution

HAWK worked with the Banff Pride Society on their 2022 festival creative and web design, and even participated in the first annual Pride Market during the festival! As proud Albertans and lifelong supporters of the LGBTQ2S+ community, it feels pretty special to be a part of the Banff Pride legacy. We’re excited to see how the society continues to grow, and look forward to taking part in the upcoming festival!
