BEER CAN LABEL DESIGN

Opportunity

Buffalo 9 Brewing makes beer inspired by the stories of those who serve. They came to us with the story of The Air Transport Auxiliary, a group of civilian pilots enlisted by Britains Royal Air Force to help ferry planes from the factories to the frontline, and asked us to design a unique beer can label to celebrate their story.

Approach

We’ve helped to develop the Buffalo 9 Brewing visual identity through a series of “war-dairy” inspired labels. For their Chocolate Stout we continued the sketchbook look and feel, with pencil and watercolour textures.

Copywriting

Like the other Buffalo 9 labels, this one works to tell a story. The Sisters in the Sky is dedicated to the many female pilots who served as part of the Air Transport Auxiliary, including a few Canadians.

Solution

HAWK worked with Buffalo 9 to make the story of the “attagirls” come to life with complementary illustrations and copywriting. The illustrations represent the real pilots who flew the various aircraft depicted in the label.
